Star Stencils or Coloring Pages

Star stencils can be used to brighten up Christmas cards or as coloring pages that will keep the kids busy for a few hours. Coloring in star stencils is a fun everyday activity but what if they could make pretty decorations for Christmas or to pop on the Christmas tree. Making handmade Christmas decorations makes the Christmas tree look less commercial and more homely plus it gives the children a nice feeling when they see their own star decorations on the Christmas tree.

Star stencils are easy to print and you really don’t need a lot of art supplies to make these Christmas decorations. If you have some aluminum foil in the kitchen that you use for cooking this will be perfect or you could try metallic wrapping in all of the Christmas colors. For this star stencil project you’ll also need scissors, glue, string or cotton, hole punch and cardboard to stick the star print out too. All of these art supplies are relatively cheap to buy but I am sure you’ll  have most of  supplies tucked away in a draw.

To get this project underway start by printing off as many star worksheets as you need to decorate the tree with. Stick every star stencil that  you’ve printed to the cardboard and wait for it to dry. Cut out each star carefully but if it happens to look a little wobbly it doesn’t matter, it adds to the spirit of Christmas.

OK. Grab your aluminum foil or metallic wrapping paper and cut enough off the roll to decorate your stars with. There are no rules here so you can mix and match the colors or just use one color to embellish your star stencils. Read more »
