Asiavision? It’s just like Eurovision, but maybe better!

Oh my, this is really sad, a bunch of Asian countries have decided to form an Asian version of the Eurovision contest.

Why?

They’re going to call it Asiavision, and they say that “the universal language of music will help bring people closer together”. OK, I understand that, peace and people liking each other is very important, but surely they can come up with a better model than Eurovision!

The last Eurovision was in my opinion a complete disaster, most of the acts were a joke, and the few who went there to perform and get some recognition were dropped out fairly quickly with the way the voting was done.

I really enjoy Asian music, some Japanese pop can be really quircky and interesting, and I adore Indian music, so I hope they plan to broadcast the series in Europe, or if they don’t, maybe put it online so I can watch the acts.

The countries that have signed up for it so far are; China, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Cambodia, South Korea, Taiwan, Laos, Macau, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

The Latest Top 40 Charts Deutschland

One of the things I like doing is to check out the latest tracks that are current in the top 40 charts in Germany. Having lived in Germany I’ve acquired a taste for German Artists like Rosenstolz and Ich + Ich.

Currently on the charts Ich + Ich are sitting in the number seven position with their new track, Nichts bringt mich runter.

I couldn’t believe my luck Rosenstolz have also released a new track, Gib mir sonne and it’s sitting at number four.

Two great bands in one day. Check out Rosenstolz or Ich + Ich latest chart toppers.

Chubby Checker’s ‘The Twist’ Number one in US charts?

Wow, this is impressive, Chubby Checker’s ‘The Twist’ has been named the biggest US chart hit of the last 50 years.

I’m amazed that a song from so long ago could still be the top song, especially after some really big name performers like Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Madonna, Elvis Presley and so many more have had some massive hits.

However, chubby Checker it is, and I guess if any song deserves to be number one this might be one of the songs that is so universally known that I can agree.

What I can’t agree with though is some of the other tracks in the top ten, for example the Macarena by Los Del Rio at number 5, or We Belong Together by Toni Braxton. <br />

MTV Music Awards 2008

Oh boy, just when you think Britney Spears is down and out, probably never to resurrect her music career she goes and wins several awards at the MTV Video Music Awards.

I would never have expected this after all those problems she had with being in hospital, the divorce, losing custody of her children, and then that disastrous performance at last years Awards.

But I have to say I like her latest music, it was like she’d finally grown up, and maybe all the bad stuff she’s been through will make her a stronger performer in the future, maybe even a better mother.

So I guess winning awards this year is just part of her comeback, and she really should be congratulated for getting her act together.

I’m also really excited for Tokio Hotel getting best newcomer. That’s a big win for them, and their music is awesome as well.
