Lady Beetle Clip Art – How to identify a Lady Beetle in your Garden?
Today we are going to step into your garden and look for the common Lady Beetle, which is also know as the Asian Lady Beetle. Its scientific name is Harmonia axyridis form succinea, and they are the easiest Lady Beetle for kids to identify, because of their white markings on their head (pronotum).
Take a close look at your Lady Beetle it should be either red, or yellow-orange. If there are several on the one plant, you’ll notice that some might be really dark in color and others light in color.
Also look at its spots, they will vary in size, but also the number of spots they will have on their backs. Normally their spots can vary from 0 to 22. You will also notice that no two Lady Beetles are alike. Just like us, we are unique.
This is really important!!!!! HAVE I GOT YOUR ATTENTION? Your Lady Beetle must have white markings on its head, this part of its body is called the pronotum. When you look at the black part left on it’s head you should notice that it looks like the letter “M” or “W” depending on which way your facing the beetle.
If you have that marking you know you that you have the same Lady Beetle clip art that I have designed. Yippee!
