When someone that Trick or Treats comes knocking at your door what better way to greet them, than with spooky bats hanging from the inside of your door frame. The bats won’t be expected and it will give them a real fright. To make these spooky bat decorations, you’ll first need to download the Halloween bat stencils to your desktop. Once you have downloaded the bat stencils you can print them onto durable white crafting card.

Using durable crafting card it makes the bat Halloween stencils outline easier for the kids to see, and a lot sturdier for little hands to work with.

The kids will love this part, cutting out the bats stencils. Just make sure the children are supervised by an adult and get them to use child safety scissors to avoid accidents. Kids will be kids!!!

With some black crafting card, place the Halloween bat stencils on top of the card and then trace around them until you have as many scary bats as you need. Using a white pencil or a silver pen will make it a lot easier to see the bat shape on the black card. Having traced them it’s time to cut

Once all of your Halloween bat stencils are cut it’s time to fix them to the top of your door frame. You’ll either need some clear jewellery making thread or some trusty fishing line.

Parents make a small hole in each Halloween bat to pass the thread through and then tie a knot. To make your front entrance interesting vary the lengths of the thread. To fix your black bats to the door frame use some clear tape or double sided tape. Being at the door maybe double sided tape is better as it will have a stronger hold against the wind and when you come and go from the house.

This is why I’ve created this fun project to keep the kids entertained, to educate and to give parents a helping hand in the home. All your dreams have come at once!!! Not all of us are skilled enough to draw a star, maybe an odd looking one, this is why I have made it very easy for you. Just double click on the black and white star clip art and print it off onto standard printer paper or thicker paper if you prefer.

For those of you who like this star a little bigger, just set a higher percentage value when printing and viola!!! There you have it, a perfectly printed black and white star clip art to begin your craft, coloring or shape recognition project.

Now paper or cardboard is just one way or using this project for shape recognition, you can try working with acrylic felt and use this black and white star clip art as a stencil, to mark out two stars onto the felt. Make sure  when your marking out your stars, to use different colored fabric, for interest and educational purposes. Once you’ve cut them out use a sewing machine to stitch them together, but remember to leave a small opening so you can add a bit of acrylic filler, to make them soft and squishy.

Coffee Cake Ingredients:
2 teaspoons instant coffee (mix in a ½ cup of hot water)
2 cups of flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
125 g butter
2 eggs
1/2 cup of  sugar

Coffee Cake Method:
To prepare the coffee cake, begin by combining the butter and sugar. Remember to mix it well with an electric hand mixer. Add the eggs one at a time, mix and beat well.

In a separate bowl you’ll need to combine the flour and baking powder together so the texture of the dry ingredients looks light and well combined. Slowly add the flour mix to the egg mix and begin to fold it in gently, using a spoon. Once the mixture is smooth, simply add the coffee mixture and work it in thoroughly if your making this cake the old fashioned way. Good old arm power.

For those of us who prefer to use an electric hand mixer, briefly mix and make sure the coffee cake mixture is fully combined. Prepare your cake tin or alternatively use a non stick pan. Some may prefer to use silicon bake ware. Bake the coffee cake in a moderate oven at 180 degrees celsius for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Once your lovely coffee cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it stand to cool, or alternatively if you like warm cake, just squirt some fresh cream on the top and add a little grated chocolate. Positively yummy!!!

Red Clipart Hearts

You can use red clipart hearts just about anytime of the year to make a greeting card, heart stickers or you can print out red clipart hearts at special times of the year for Valentine’s day.

If you happen to be sweet on somebody or you want to use these red hearts in a project, how about giving a plain looking art journal a sprucing up or make a greeting card and give it away as a gift.

Cute red clipart hearts can be reduced in size to what ever size you like to make a love heart greeting card or you can copy and paste the red clipart hearts onto one page, and print a whole sheet of red hearts.

I would suggest if you want to make a red clipart hearts journal, you print the sheet of red hearts onto sticker paper. Depending on the size of the art journal you could use one piece of A4 sticker paper or you can cut out the red clipart hearts and stick them to the front of the art journal. If you were to use transparent sticker paper the art journal would look a lot better especially if the art journal or sketch book is bound with a black cover.

Sometimes just making a greeting card or cute stickers to go onto a gift lets the recipient know how much you really care about them. Extravagant gifts are nice, if you’re lucky enough to receive them, but sometimes it’s the small heart felt gifts that mean the most.

Autumn Leaves

As the days are getting shorter I know Autumn is just around the corner, although I don’t want another Winter like the one I went through, Autumn still excites me because it’s the magic season as the Autumn leaves fall sprinkle their amazing colors.

Deep fire reds, oranges, browns and yellow oak leaves gradually fall from the branches and cascade beneath the trees. As the wind catches the Autumn leaves they dance across pathways and parks before they settle into an amazing blanket of color.

With such vivid colors you can’t help but take a photo, perhaps look for Autumn leaves that are perfect in shape and color to keep as keepsakes or maybe you can’t resist the temptation of having a leaf fight and end up rolling around in the oak leaves.

Autumn is such a magical time of year, with amazing displays of color so why not “Cease the Day” and go for a walk in the forest or watch the children play in park, as you enjoy the Autumn leaves falling from the trees.
