Do you remember when you were a child, Easter was always an exciting time of year, but as adults we loose our childhood innocence. So what does a parent do when their kids are hyperactive on this special day? Well it’s quite simple, give them something to keep them occupied like Easter coloring pages, and let their imagination take over.

Of course you should make sure their coloring pages contain Easter themes to keep the Easter magic alive for them. Pages with Easter bunnies, chocolate eggs, or Christian themed pages are ideal, and they’ll love practicing their outlining and coloring in. It won’t matter if they’re using pencils, paint or felt pens, the fun is in the coloring and completing Easter coloring pages to put on display.

With my own nephews and nieces I always encourage them to use bright colors and not worry too much about being exact or making their picture look realistic, mostly because I love seeing their art on my fridge and it always looks better with bold bright colors. After all they are children, and in their mind a chocolate egg can be blue or brown.

To make the experience even more memorable for them, why not arrange an indoor picnic with fruit juice or soda pop and cookies, and invite some of their cousins or neighbors over for an Easter coloring pages competition, but have an award for every child, one for best outlines, another for best colors, another for the neatest picture, or maybe an award for using the most colors. You can easily mix and match awards so no child is left out this Easter celebration.

If you would like another Easter color page then simply click on this rabbit coloring page or Easter decorations page.

Every Easter was a magical time as a child, as my sister and I would take part in Easter egg hunts either indoors or outdoors. The Easter eggs were hidden by the Easter bunny, and we would go on the hunt to find them. These chocolate eggs were hidden in bushes, on ledges, behind furniture or anywhere that you would least expect them to be.

My sister and I would frantically race around collecting as many Easter eggs as we could find. Of course it was never quite that easy, I always ended up with the least amount of chocolate eggs, as my sister had a sharp eye and she could run faster than me.

Easter egg hunts seemed a little unfair, as my sister was older than me, but despite that, seeking out chocolate eggs was a lot of fun. After the chocolate egg hunt was over we would put all the eggs together, and then mum would share them evenly amongst us. Sharing is always a good thing, thanks mum, but finding the Easter eggs was the part that I enjoyed the most.

Easter Egg Hunts

We had Easter egg hunts every year, but one year the Easter bunny had hidden all of the eggs in the garden. This year was so much fun, because I knew all the best hiding spots, as I use to spend hours in the garden. It was a memorable Easter as this year I had collected the most eggs.

Out of all the Easter eggs my favorite is still the chocolate bunny rabbit. The milk chocolate just melts away in your mouth. The best part of the chocolate rabbit is the ears, as the chocolate is so thick and yummy.

Besides this hollow chocolate bunny rabbit, we also received, round chocolate eggs filled with candy, sugar eggs or small hollow chocolate eggs wrapped in bright colored foil, just like the kids get today. From memory I’m sure ours tasted better as the chocolate wasn’t as sweet.

In the future when I have kids of my own, I plan to keep Easter egg hunts a tradition in my family, as it’s a fun activity that the whole family can enjoy.

It’s all very well knowing that every year at the end of March or the beginning of April we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and kids of all ages collect chocolate Easter eggs or chocolate bunnies. The origins of Easter are worth knowing, because the pagan festival that became Easter as we know it is part of our historic culture.

In the early days of Christianity it was dangerous to practice one’s faith when the majority of the population in the Roman Empire were pagan, so early Christians piggy backed their religious festivities onto existing festivals. The Resurrection of Christ adopted the date of the festival of Eastre as its time of year.

Eastre in Saxon mythology was the Earth Goddess, but in Roman times also coincided with the goddess Aphrodite, both of whom were the goddesses of fertility. Other goddesses connected with fertility were Ishtar, Kali, Demeter, Hathor, Ashtoreth and the Norse goddess Ostara.

Of course in history of this sort there are always other viewpoints, and some experts believe the name Easter is a corruption of ancient words that simply meant sunrise, but we’ll never know for certain, though since pagan festivals fell at the same time of year it seems reasonable that our explanation would be correct.

The spring equinox is the traditional time to celebrate Eastre, and is a time of rebirth, we see this in the trees regaining their leaves, or wild flowers growing and filling mountainsides, and in the birth of young animals, the springtime lambs being the most well known.

So the next time you think of Easter and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, let your mind reflect on the time of year when everything is reborn, and remember that historically, the festival was called Eastre.

Halloween is almost here and it’s time to put on your witches decorating hat, and make bats decorations using these Halloween bat stencils to make your home a little creepy like.

When someone that Trick or Treats comes knocking at your door what better way to greet them, than with spooky bats hanging from the inside of your door frame. The bats won’t be expected and it will give them a real fright. To make these spooky bat decorations, you’ll first need to download the Halloween bat stencils to your desktop. Once you have downloaded the bat stencils you can print them onto durable white crafting card.

Using durable crafting card it makes the bat Halloween stencils outline easier for the kids to see, and a lot sturdier for little hands to work with.

The kids will love this part, cutting out the bats stencils. Just make sure the children are supervised by an adult and get them to use child safety scissors to avoid accidents. Kids will be kids!!!

Halloween Bat Stencils

With some black crafting card, place the Halloween bat stencils on top of the card and then trace around them until you have as many scary bats as you need. Using a white pencil or a silver pen will make it a lot easier to see the bat shape on the black card. Having traced them it’s time to cut

Once all of your Halloween bat stencils are cut it’s time to fix them to the top of your door frame. You’ll either need some clear jewellery making thread or some trusty fishing line.

Parents make a small hole in each Halloween bat to pass the thread through and then tie a knot. To make your front entrance interesting vary the lengths of the thread. To fix your black bats to the door frame use some clear tape or double sided tape. Being at the door maybe double sided tape is better as it will have a stronger hold against the wind and when you come and go from the house.

If you like some scary looking bats lurking around your front door, then take the time to download this Halloween bat stencil or bat color page for this Halloween. Remember teachers or parents who home school you have permission to use these Halloween bat stencils for your classes. Happy Halloween

For those of us who have children wouldn’t it be nice to reward them with a fun star clip art star every time they help keep the planet beautiful! Teaching children how to give mother nature a helping hand is one of the best gifts you can give your child.

This is why I’ve created this fun project to keep the kids entertained, to educate and to give parents a helping hand in the home. All your dreams have come at once!!! As you can see from the star clip art below, I have used a three tone color scheme in green, as green is symbolic for caring for the planet.

What better way to install good house keeping practices than teaching the future generation, smarter, cleaner and greener ways of living. A simple task like taking out the rubbish and putting it into the recycling bin earns them one, cool green star clip art star.

Star Clip Art

Parents this part is up to you. How are you going to work this rewards system? You can make a chart to go on the wall and stick the star clip art to it, which could be another fun project for you and the kids to do.

Another cool idea is to take a piece of thick colorful string and tie it somewhere visible and use clothes pegs to attach the star clip art to it. The pegs are also colorful which adds a little color to the room, unless you use wooden clothes pegs at home. If your pegs are wooden then great news, you can decorate the number of pegs you need for this project, which could be kind of cute. Pegs with personality!!!

OK, not getting too side tracked here, you’re children would like to know how many star clip art stars they’ll need to earn before they receive some type of reward. Rewards can be as simple as a thank you, it’s important to recognize that they have done a good job in helping to keep their home and planet clean. Sometimes just knowing that you appreciate them and their efforts is enough, but for the little ones, it’s the stars that make this project so much fun.

To download star clip art just click once then right click again on the star and choose “Save As” from the drop down menu.

Have you ever thought about putting on your decorating hat, and adding some fun polka dot borders to your Scrapbooking album? If you haven’t then now is the time to do so.

With amazing polka dot borders you can give you Scrapbook album that retro look and feel that you’ve been waiting for. Most of us can say that we have seen our fair share of polka dots, some polka dot patterns are in neat rows whilst others are scattered individually. Some of these can be a little boring, but good news, I won’t bore you, as this is not another typical polka dot design. Phew!!

Not all of the polka dots in this border are solid in color, I’ve tried to mixed it up a little, by adding some layering and a transparent effect to give the illusion of depth. With a solid or transparent effect on these polka dots, and the subtle use of blue and green hues, this combination will add that bit of magic to your paper craft projects.

Some of you might be thinking, how can I implement polka dot borders into a page layout, it’s easy. You first need to ask yourself if you prefer a one or a two page layout. For a two page layout, you could journal about your favorite comic strips or maybe your favorite artist, Andy Warhol.

With fun polka dot borders, and interesting page layout ideas you an your Scrapping buddies could have a fun time Scrapbooking together on the same theme. To download polka dot borders just right click once, then again and save the graphic to your computer.

Today we are going to take this simple black and white star clip art and turn it into a fun creation for children. Younger children will enjoy this, as it gives you, the parents or even teachers the tools to help them learn about shapes, but the fun way.

Not all of us are skilled enough to draw a star, maybe an odd looking one, this is why I have made it very easy for you. Just double click on the black and white star clip art and print it off onto standard printer paper or thicker paper if you prefer.

For those of you who like this star a little bigger, just set a higher percentage value when printing and viola!!! There you have it, a perfectly printed black and white star clip art to begin your craft, coloring or shape recognition project.

Black and White Star Clip Art

Now paper or cardboard is just one way or using this project for shape recognition, you can try working with acrylic felt and use this black and white star clip art as a stencil, to mark out two stars onto the felt. Make sure when your marking out your stars, to use different colored fabric, for interest and educational purposes. Once you’ve cut them out use a sewing machine to stitch them together, but remember to leave a small opening so you can add a bit of acrylic filler, to make them soft and squishy.

There are many ways you can enrich your child’s life, with shapes they are fun, you just need a little creativity. Who knows you may want to use this other black and white clip art to create other craft projects perhaps for Christmas. If this black and white star clip art isn’t what you’re looking for, we also have, other star clip art, Christmas Color Pages and even Star Stencils.
