Madonna at 50, Wow

Madonna

Madonna

How does she do it? At 50 years old Madonna still looks gorgeous, has more energy than most people half her age, and she still sounds fantastic. I am so jealous.

Madonna is starting her latest world tour off in the UK, and each show is 2 hours of high energy hits from her whole career, including ‘Like a Prayer’, ‘Ray of Light’, ‘La Isla Bonita’ and loads more.

I know she’s a very wealthy lady and she can afford the best trainers and beauty regime, but even so it can’t all be about money can it? I’d like to think I can still look good at 50 without all that cash. Of course it does need discipline to keep working out.

Can’t wait to see her when she gets to this part of the world. I saw her perform years ago, back in the early 90’s and she was spectacular then, and now she has an even bigger catalog of songs to choose from, and some of her latest tracks have been very good. Different from her younger days, but as I get older as well I appreciate her newer music more.

Andrea Bocelli to Release Greatest Hits Album, Vivere

One of my favourite singers, Andrea Bocelli, will be releasing his first greatest hits album on October 30, The Best of Andrea Bocelli: Vivere.

I’m really looking forward to this album, it has all my favourite tracks on it including the incomparable duet with Sarah Brightman, Time To Say Goodbye, which I think has to one of my favourite songs of all time, and let’s not forget Romanza and Sogno, two songs that really showcase Andrea’s voice perfectly.

Andrea always produces wonderful duets, and The Prayer, with Celine Dion is also included, along with a couple of new versions of duets with Diane Warwick, La Voce Del Silenzio, which also includes the most incredibly haunting flute I’ve heard in a song in a long time. The Laura Pausini duet, Dare To Live is also included and sounds amazing with an orchestral rock feel. I’ve always like Laura Pausini singing English, somehow her voice sounds sweeter than her Italian songs.

There are also a couple of brand new songs on this album, A Te, which features Kenny G on saxophone, and Io Ci Saro, featuring Lang Lang on piano. Now I happen to have a Kenny G album and love it, and I’ve seen Lang Lang on TV and his piano playing is breathtaking so I can’t wait to hear these new tracks.

A Te is a mellow, sit back and close your eyes kind of track, I could easily fall asleep to this, and in fact sometimes I do, but forget about doing that with the other new track, Io Ci Saro. Lang Lang’s piano playing is strong and will bring out the conductor in you, my hands were waving all over the place with this track.

Now if only my hints about wanting all of Andrea’s DVDs would be heard in time for Christmas. Sigh, oh well, maybe I’ll just have to buy them myself, pop them under the tree and pretend Santa left them, *giggle*
