For years I had a PC with some type of work station to house all the bits and pieces. It did serve it's purpose but it took up an enormous amount of space, and in some cases a whole room was dedicated to a so-called study.
To me a desk is ugly and they aren't exactly designed to house all the bits and pieces you require. Sure they are easy to put together but when you move them around they change shape and start to wobble everywhere. Say goodbye to that once sturdy desk.
Since owning a laptop I've done away with workstations, office chairs and a ton of cables. To me an existing draw or cupboard works perfectly and when I am feeling lazy it sits on the dining or coffee table.
To me this sounds appealing and frees up another room in the house for a dedicated movie/entertainment area, guest room, hobby/craft area or a baby nursery if you're contemplating having children. In the greater scheme of things if you thought your house was to small here is a perfect way to reduce clutter.
