Learn the Alphabet

If you can get the children to have fun whilst they learn the alphabet, then half your worries are over. Let’s face it children love to have fun and we all know that when fun is involved kids will naturally learn their ABC’s a lot quicker.

In today’s lesson plan let’s put the fun into action and teach the children to learn the alphabet using the letter B. The letter B is the second letter in the alphabet and to learn the letter B the children can color the ball in, plus spell out the word ball to improve their pronunciation, and last but not least improve their writing.

At the top of the learn the alphabet page, the children can practice writing the letter B in uppercase and in lowercase. To improve their motor skills they can color in the ball before they paste it into their scrapbooks.

As a scrapbook is quiet large, you may like to provide them with some 4mm grid paper so they can practice writing the letter B. When your students writing technique has improved,  you can ask them to glue the writing exercise into the scrapbook beside the learn the alphabet exercise. This way it keeps all the theory work together. Last but not least to finish off the lesson get the children to pronounce the letter B and the word ball individually. Once everyone has had a turn you should feel confident that the children can read, pronounce and write the letter B, as well as recognizing that a ball starts with the letter B.

To extend the lesson plan you might like to have a mini quiz or guessing game as to how many objects do they know of that starts with the letter B? This will get the class interacting with one another, they’ll have fun and if you want they can take notes from the blackboard, in their scrapbook below their learn the alphabet page.

With every lesson plan devoted to a letter of the alphabet they will learn the alphabet in no time. Why not download the letter A and the letter B from Free Clip Art and eventually make up an alphabet set that has the same look and feel across all 26 letters.

To download the Letter B just click on the learn the alphabet worksheet and once it’s open in a separate window, right click and select “Save As” from the menu.
