Winning Book
Apparently (BBC reporting) the event was held in an exclusive club and the carpet covered in rose petals, and everyone was drinking pink champagne, wouldn't that be so cool to be there?
The awards ranged from Best Bastard, Best Bitch, Best Happy Ever After, Best Lovable Rogue, Best First Kiss, and more. The title of the book that one Best Bastard had me in stitches, "A Girl's Guide to Kissing Frogs", and if that doesn't get the imagination going nothing will :)
Of course an event like this always has to attract some controversy with people saying all the stories and plots are the same, the characters aren't original, and the pastel-coloured bookjackets turn people off.
Well, just let me tell you, hands off our chick lit books. If pastel coloured jackets are wrong, spare a thought for us ladies who actually like pastel colours, and also, it makes my books on the shelf stand out from his boring jackets.
Oh, and get this, someone thinks men read our chick lit books but they put them inside Wilbur Smith jackets so people can't tell what they're reading. Pffft, I can only think of one reason why a man would want to read our books, they're more interesting than crime novels, that's why!
