Who can resist they idea of decorating a cheap notebook with printable free border clip art? Not me, so the other day I bought myself a small notebook so I could jot down all my design ideas. A cheap notebook is great except the front cover was less than pretty, so with in mind I made myself a new cover with a sprinkling of free border clip art.
If you would live to give your notebook a free clip art sprinkling, all you need is a few craft supplies, a little know how and this lovely free border. If you love lilac or the color purple these cute purple hearts are decorated with white stars and sit on a stripe of purple with a lilac background.
To get your project notebook underway you will need: one cheap notebook, thick natural colored card to cover the notebook, scissors, glue stick, ruler, pencil, a colored printer and free border clip art.
What you need is a clear space to work from with your craft supplies close at hand. Lets start the project by measuring the natural colored card to an A4 or US letter size.
Tip: The easiest way to measure the colored card is to use an existing piece of A4 or US letter sized computer paper. Just use it like a template by marking off the corners, rule it up and cut it out.
Once you have downloaded the free border clip art, import it into Microsoft Word to make a few adjustments to it’s size and positioning. Make sure you do a test print in black and white using the economic ink setting on standard computer paper. You don’t want to waste your colored ink or craft card on reject prints.
If you’re happy with your formatting print in full color directly onto the natural colored card. Remember it’s always a good idea to leave the ink to dry for a few minutes before handling the artwork.
Move the cheap notebook around until you have the free border clip art graphic exactly where you want it. Grab your pencil and mark around the corners for positioning and then add your 2 cm allowances for gluing. Cut out the cover of your cheap notebook and glue and cut as required making sure each fold is neatly finished.
Just place your notebook somewhere safe so it has time to dry. When the notebook is dry you can keep it for yourself or give it away as a graduation gift. Click here to download the Free border clip art graphic.
