Free vector clip art or free clip art can be considered to be the same type of image if drawn within a vector based program. Vector clip art can be a simple piece of clip art or it can be so complex, it could be a vector art masterpiece. Designing free vector clip art is a good way to build up your skills and portfolio before you look at selling your images through a Stock Image site.
Depending on the complexity of the vector clip art graphic some might feel it’s too good to give away. This where a Stock Image site makes it possible for digital artists to sell their vector art. If your vector art is fresh and is what the customer is looking for you have a pretty good chance selling your art.
Every stock site is different but generally they will require three examples of the type of art you create. This process can take a while so try not to put all your eggs into the one basket. Join up with a few of them if you can. Just make sure you’re not breaking the rules when you do this as some sites require exclusivity to your images. All I can say is read the terms and conditions before joining and submitting your vector clip art.
In some cases your vector clip art might not be accepted, even though it’s beautifully designed. It might be that you and many artists alike have a similar style or it’s not what they’re looking for. Finding the middle ground is always the hard part, but don’t let this get you down. This knock back doesn’t mean you’re a failure it should make you more determined to design and submit your vector clip art.
Try developing different styles and give away free vector clip art. This is a great way to build your portfolio and I am sure before long your free vector clip art will be rewarding you in so many ways.
