Border Clipart
With Spring in the air it is the perfect time to buy a few strawberry plants for your own garden and give one away as a Spring gift with a border clipart embellishment. Strawberries will make a great gift because they taste wonderful freshly picked from the plant or prepared with a dribbling of chocolate and cream. To make your Strawberry gift POP, turn this border clipart graphic into a trendy pot plant spike.
For this border clipart project you will need one Strawberry plant, a small bag of potting mix, water, a container, scissors, color printer, paper, skewer, hot glue gun, clear adhesive (contact) and border clipart. Start your project by downloading this heart shaped flower border and reduce it’s size so it fits nicely with the container before printing.
To cut it out it’s easier if you draw another heart around this graphic as a scissor guide to keep a nice even heart shape. If you prefer you can follow the shape of the heart and be careful not to cut the red petals. Once your happy with your cutting efforts cover both sides of the heart clipart with contact so it’s waterproof. Try and leave a 2mm edge of contact around your clipart border in the shape of the heart. This way your border clipart pot plant spike will still look cutesy.
To glue your handmade plant spike together you’ll need to plug in your glue gun to heat it up. While the glue gun is warming make sure your skewer has only one sharp end. If your skewers has two sharp ends just cut one off with a pair of gardening snips. This will make your border clipart pot plant spike safer and more so if you have children and or pets in the home.
Always put the glue on the skewer first and then stick the skewer to the back of your free clip art border. You might want the glue to cool a little first as you don’t want the contact to melt and spoil the look of your border clipart. Once you have glued the border to the skewer wait for the glue to dry, this shouldn’t take too long. Put your border clipart pot plant spike to one side and setup your work surface to pot up your Strawberry plant.
To pot up your Strawberry plant simply add some potting mix to your new container. Put in enough potting mix so the Strawberry will be the same depth as the pot it came in. Gently squeeze the sides of the Strawberry pot to loosen the plant away from the sides. With one hand hold the plant and with the other turn the pot upside down and give a little tap on the base. The Strawberry should come out unharmed and just pop it in the new container and finish potting it up.
Make sure the container is clean from excess potting mix then place your border clipart spike into the Strawberry container. Give the Strawberry plant a good soaking so the water drains freely from the bottom of the pot. Let it stand for an hour or so before you put it in pride of place or give it away as a Spring gift.
