Top 25 Ways to SEO Your Site

Getting traffic and building links to your site isn't the easiest thing in the world to do. I know, I'm trying to build this site as well. For the last few days I've been reading every page I could find on SEO and traffic. The following ideas have been compiled from this reading excursion, hope you like them.
.Content is KEY! Write targeted keyword content for your site or blog for maximum exposure.

.Use Keywords in your article titles and make them FUN! Just think, would you click on the title?

.Have an organized website. Make sure your page is user friendly with easy navigation between pages.

.Add a link to your main home page on every single page that is part of your website.

.Create a sitemap and submit to Google and other search engines on an ongoing basis.

.Submit your site to major search engines like Google, MSN and Yahoo by following their requested procedures.

.Build relationships with similar websites. Do your best to get ONE WAY LINKS. Offer to write a review about their site in exchange for a permanent link back. The more relationships that you can build, the more likely your site will appear on major search engines.

.Add a list of 20-30 targeted keywords to your Meta tags. For each new page created, change the meta tags and the description.

.Keyword limitations – Only use 2-3 keywords per page for better placement. If writing an article, us the 2-3 keywords in the title and in the body frequently.

.If you haven’t already done so, purchase a domain that is related to your niche. If the name is easy to remember, you’ll have better chances of repeat traffic. As well, if you use targeted keywords in your URL, search engines are more likely to place them higher.

.Type in proper format. Speak clearly when writing your content. If you just write a bunch of garbage and add keywords in the mess, search engines will notice and pull your site.

.Submit your site to highly ranked web directories. Make sure the directory is either a general directory or a niche directory. If it is a niche directory, make sure you are in that niche.

.If you have images on your page, use the ALT attribute and on the IMG tag. Make sure the ALT text is one of your primary keywords.

.Search for related sites/blogs and contribute to their posts or message boards.

.Exchange links with similar websites. Possibly start an addition web directory on your webpage where you can place these links.

.Stay on top of the game. The SEO world changes very fast. Do your research and talk with other webmasters to see what they are doing that is different than you. Forums are a great place to get advice and make friends with other website owners.

.Read over every major search engines do’s and don’ts. This is very important. If could be doing something that hurts your ranking. Be proactive and fix the problem before the search engines lower your ranking.

.Always link build. Submit articles to article directories. This can be very promising if you do it correctly. Submit articles on a regular basis.

.Take advantage of popular social bookmarking sites. Whenever you create a new page, bookmark it using such services as dig.com, technorati.com, del.icio.us, stumbleupon.com, etc…

.Create a Wikipedia page about your site. Add keywords that are related to your site. This is a great SEO practice.

22. Update your site/ blog as much as you can. Search engines love new fresh content.

.Do not use duplicate content as this can hurt your status with the search engines.

.Use robot.txt files to point crawlers in the right direction. Google robot.txt for more information on how to use this feature.

.Most importantly, be passionate about your site. If you can’t stay involved with your site, how will your readers. Always keep it fresh and tidy.
